We cannot perform microneedling directly over active, inflamed acne or cystic breakouts, as this can spread bacteria. If you are currently experiencing a breakout, we recommend a Laser Genesis or LED Light Therapy session first to calm the skin.

Yes! One of the biggest advantages of SkinPen over certain laser treatments is that it doesn't use heat or light to target pigment, so there is a significantly lower risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. It is safe and effective for all skin types, from very fair to very dark.

To get the best results and minimise sensitivity, please discontinue the use of active ingredients like Retinol (Vitamin A), AHA/BHA acids, or harsh exfoliants 3–5 days before your session. You should also avoid significant sun exposure or sunbeds for 2 weeks prior.

Will my face be bleeding?

Unlike the "vampire facials" you might see on social media, professional SkinPen treatments do not involve heavy bleeding. You may experience some "pinpoint" spotting during the procedure, which is a normal sign that we have reached the correct depth to trigger collagen, but this is wiped away during the session. You will leave the clinic looking pink (like a mild sunburn), not bleeding.
